Glen E. Friedman

American photographer and artist Glen E. Friedman was born on this day in 1963 . Whilst in high school,  Friedman gathered some of his friends, who were be featured in magazines, into riding in an empty swimming pool so he could take pictures. He showed the results to a freelance writer for SkateBoarder magazine, who put him in touch with the editor.  He soon became their youngest staff member.

Several years later Friedman started to photograph at punk shows and in 1985  began working with thenewly formed Def Jam Recordsshoot their publicity material and album covers. Artist he has phtoographed include  Black FlagDead Kennedys Beastie Boys,[2] Run-D.M.C.,[2]KRS-One,  Public Enemy andmany more.

 

Although his work is documentary by association, he considers the work to be fine art photographyHis work is held in the photography collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and Berkeley Art Museum.
