Media News

During this period of unprecedented difficulty for everyone, we send you our very best wishes. As we all evolve towards new ways of working employing digital strategy and crisis communications, we continue to keep in touch with all our peers, media, clients and friends on the art world response. We have been working closely with our colleagues in the media to understand how they are shifting their focus and how we can creatively work together to continue to generate cultural coverage,

You'll also find below a comprehensive brief on global art world news, media industry updates, digital innovations and everything in between, to keep you abreast of this fast-changing landscape. Welcome to our new weekly newsletter - #PelhamPicks.

Media Brief

BBC announced their new virtual festival of the arts: Culture in Quarantine. The platform contains guides to closed exhibitions, as well as online portals to permanent gallery collections, performances, recordings and archival material.

Responding to gallery closures across the world, the New York Times, Artnet and CNN Style are just some of the publications turning their content towards virtual exhibitions, viewing rooms and museum collections.

We heard reports of steady sales at Art Basel Hong Kong's online fair. ARTnews' Maximiliano Duron comments "[Collectors] overwhelmed the website’s servers, causing them to go down". At The Art Newspaper, Anna Brady tackles the elephant in the (virtual) viewing room -'What’s a VIP preview without Ruinart?'

In a bid to rid us from the deluge of coronavirus content, some publications are on the hunt for evergreen and "inspirational" material. The Guardian have even started a 'happy thread: things that bring a smile in these hellish times'.

As art schools cancel BFA and MFA shows across the globe, the new Insta @socialdistancegallery is offering a platform for students to exhibit artworks.
