The worlds of art and politics had a face-off this week, in the destruction of the statue of slaver Edwards Colston in Bristol, UK. The powerful event - which has re-incited similar discussions across the globe - has been debated across ApolloArtReview and by the Guardian's Jonathan Jones. Even Banksy weighed in.
It's a fond farewell to How To Spend It's Friday edition, as tomorrow will be the last ever edition before it becomes an exclusive fixture of Financial Times Weekend. In her editor's letter Jo Ellison writes "When I arrived at the magazine last September, I inherited a publishing schedule that followed a calendar that would confound even its most dedicated followers. Henceforth, How to Spend It will always come out on a Saturday."
Kelly Crow explores Saudi Arabia's plans to become 'an art world heavy-weight' for Wall Street Journal, after visiting Desert X AlUla earlier this year.

The Miami Herald has announced that the newspaper will be moving out of thier offices in August. In an address to their readers, Aminda Marqués González (president, publisher and executive editor) writes "The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated our organization’s ability to work remotely... In this move, we are investing in people over place".
In an unusually collaborative spirit, earlier this week 14 commerical galleries in London sent out a joint press release announcing their reopening plans from 15 June. The Art Newspaper's Anna Brady speaks to some of the galleries about their concerns, with Sadie Coles remarking, “It’s one thing to be on pause, but once you reopen all the costs come back—that’s when liquidity will become a problem.”
